Alex Pearl was born in Wanstead, East London and from a young age showed a keen interest in writing and drawing. So it wasn't entirely surprising that he ended up going to Maidstone College of Art where he teamed up with a friend with the aim of gaining employment as a creative team in the advertising industry. Before leaving college, the pair were offered places at J Walter Thompson and The Kirkwood Company. The rest, as they say, is history. Over the years, Alex has been employed by numerous advertising agencies as a copywriter and has written for clients across a diverse range of industries. He has written TV, cinema and radio commercials for beers, soft drinks, soap, cars, garden products, real fires. and financial services. And he has penned press ads, brochures, DM pieces and websites for pretty much everything humanly possible. While he has picked up awards, he is far prouder of the results his work has achieved for clients. In recent years, he has worked extensively with art director and award-winning advertising photographer John Mac. Together they have worked on iconic luxury brands including Boodles and FreyWille, as well as smaller charitable concerns like Eagle Heights Wildlife Centre and Spa Valley Railways. In 2011, Alex extended his writing output to include books. His first published work of fiction, 'Sleeping with the Blackbirds' was penned for the young adult market. The book was recently long-listed by the Millenium Book Viral Awards, and for a short while sat at the number one spot in Amazon's Best Seller list of children's books about friendship. He is currently writing a thriller set in London in 2005, which he hopes to finish this year.
